Adults earning $75,000 or less will be eligible for a $600 check and another $600 for each qualifying child, according to text of the bill released Monday. Higher earners would get a smaller amount, and it wasn’t immediately clear whether that applied to the per-child payment or not. The final compromise agreement, the result of months of negotiations, also includes a $300-a-week federal supplement to unemployment benefits through March 14 and extends two federal unemployment program deadlines through that date, among a number of other provisions. Both Republican and Democratic leaders said they hoped to pass the bill as early as Monday. An earlier compromise framework released last week did not include stimulus checks, but in the spring, the CARES Act provided payments of up to $1,200 per adult and $500 per child, and many lawmakers had argued a second round was vital to supporting families and the economy.
